Have you ever wondered if your animal in Animal Jam is feeling lonely? I’m sure any Jammer is giving enough attention to their animals, but what if? Luckily, it is possible to buy Pets that will accompany your animals through their adventures in Jamaa. Pets are just small animals that follow your main animals around. They look cute, and are great companions to have.

You can buy Pets at several locations in Jamaa, such as the Diamond Shop, Flippers N’ Fins, Claws N’ Paws and the Pets-only Party. There is also a Pets section in the Change Your Look menu, where you can choose and buy different Pets. They were first announced on June 9, 2011. The first Pets appeared into the game on June 23, 2011. Do any of you already own any Pets? Let us know below!

How to Buy Pets in Animal Jam

There are a number of different locations where you can buy Pets in Jamaa. However, we are going to take a look at the two easiest ways. Firstly, you can go to the Diamond Shop in the Jamaa Township to buy Pets. The Diamond Shop is the shop with the Diamond Banners on it. Go inside by going through the front door.

Once there, you will see a giant wolf statue in the center of it. Next to the statue, you will find a small crib with baby animals in it. If you click on that crib, it will take you to the Pets store. There, you can select which Pets you want to buy. The Pets at the Diamond Shop cost 3 Diamonds to buy.

Another way to easily buy new Pets is by going to the Change Your Look menu. The menu is located at the bottom-left corner of your screen. Just click on your animal’s avatar. Once you are there, you will see a large “Pets’ button, with a butterfly on it. Click on that button.

Now you will see all the pets you own, but you will also see blue butterflies. If you click on a blue butterfly, you will see a selection of Pets that you can buy, either with Diamonds or with Gems. They either cost 3 Diamonds, or they cost 450 Gems. Once bought, the Pet will appear at the “My Pets” menu, and you can swap them out if you want another Pet companion.

How to Choose a Pet in Animal Jam

Choosing which Pet you want as a companion can be difficult. There are over a 1000 Pets in Animal Jam. If you want a different Pet companion, you will need to follow a few steps. First, you need to go to the Change Your Look menu by clicking on your animal’s avatar. You can find the avatar at the bottom-left corner of your screen.

Once you are there, click on the blue “Pets” button. This will take you to the “My Pets” screen, on which you can see every Pet that you own. If you want to choose a different Pet to follow you, simply click on that Pet, and then click on the large X at the top-right corner. This will switch out your Pets. You can also set a Pet free by clicking on the blue “Cage”.

How to Customize Pets in Animal Jam

To customize your Pet, you will need to take it to the Pet Stop. Go to the Change Your Look menu, and click on the “Pets” button. Once there, select the Pet that you wish to customize. At the bottom-right, you will see a blue button called “Pet Stop”. Click on that button.

This will take you to a barbershop-like screen. By hovering your mouse over the cabinets, different kinds of apparel items will appear. Customize your Pet to your liking. When you are done, click on the blue “Done” button. If you are not satisfied, click on the blue “Reset” button to go back. Keep in mind that it will cost you Gems to customize your Pets.

Animal Jam Pets Trivia

An awesome fact about the Pets in Animal Jam is that there are over a 1000 different ones of them available in Jamaa. AJHQ recently made that announcement, and there was a small celebration. They also thanked everyone for adopting Pets and for playing AJ.

If you think 1000 Pets is a high number, what about the fact that there are over 150 thousand different customization options available within the game. If you go even further, and decide to customize your Pet at the Pet Stop, there are over 35 million combinations available!

Characters[edit]

  • Edi the Zebra (performed by Leslie Carrara-Rudolph) – The host of the show. Her favorite toy is Ginger the Jungle Slug and she has her own kind of dance called 'the scooch.' She gets the kids' attention to dance by saying 'zebra, ready, pose!' She has bright pink and yellow stripes and her mane changes in style in every episode. She is the master of 'Zebra Fu.'
  • Waffle the Cow-Monkey (performed by Rickey Boyd) – The co-host of the show. Waffle is referred to as a Cow-Monkey because he is a monkey that dresses up as a cowboy. The nicknames he gives Edi are zebra girl, pumpkin seed (used in 'The Right Size for You'), and striped friend. He gets the kids' attention by saying 'Now listen up with your cow-monkey ears' and wiggles his ears on his own. He always likes to take on a challenge such as in 'The Not So Moving Episode', when Edi challenges him to a freezing contest to see who can play with Ginger the Jungle Slug for the day. He's the master of 'Cow-Monkey Kwan-Do.' He did a slide show in 'I Am Rain'.
  • Bozark the Elephant (performed by David Maida) – A 7 ft. tall dancing elephant who is an Animal Jam Superstar. He once came in at the wrong time in 'I Am Rain.'
  • DJ 1 the Panda (performed by John Kennedy) - One of the DJs on the show. He sings the songs for Bozark's dance numbers. His catch phrase is 'Oh, yeah'.
  • DJ 2 the Koala (performed by John Tartaglia) – One of the DJs on the show. He makes sounds after Bozark's dance numbers and makes DJ 1 and DJ 3 look at him. He sat on a stack of books in 'The Right Size For You'
  • DJ 3 the Leopard (performed by Andy Stone) – One of the DJs on the show. He walked the tightrope in 'Crouching Edi, Hidden Waffle' and he played the organ in 'Boo! Day'. He does the antics after songs in the show. He's the only DJ who can tickle himself.
  • Pancake the Water Buffalo – Waffle's younger sister who appeared in the last three episodes.

Cast[edit]

The following are Animal Jam's puppeteers:

  • Rickey Boyd – Waffle the Cow-Monkey
  • Leslie Carrara-Rudolph – Edi the Zebra
  • John Kennedy – DJ 1 the Panda
  • David Maida – Bozark the Elephant
  • Alison Mork – Additional Puppeteer
  • Andy Stone – DJ 3 the Leopard

Later appearances[edit]

  • Pancake the Water Buffalo appears as 'Pancake Buffalo' in the Hannah Montana episode 'Hannah in the Street with Diamonds' performed by Victor Yerrid and voiced by Susie Geiser. Pancake is the beloved puppet star of the local Malibu kids series called 'The Pancake Buffalo Show.' When Hannah Montana receives a diamond on a Hollywood street modeled after the Hollywood Walk of Fame, she requests the location be moved due to overly-frequent business in the area and learns that the area her diamond was originally intended to be placed was given to Pancake Buffalo. When Miley attempts to ask the kindly puppeteer of Pancake named Cindy Merriwether (played by Edie McClurg) to switch diamonds, she only communicates (rudely) through Pancake and refuses. Hannah then schemes to switch Pancake's dismal Street Diamond location with Hannah Montana's by playing on the childhood nostalgic fondness of her show by Hollywood Parade of Street Diamonds Committee Chairman Randall Harrison (played by Michael Boatman). She is successful, but ultimately a porta-john is placed directly over the newly moved Diamond much to Miley's astonished joy. Pancake is later seen 'occupying' the stall and shooing away anyone who wishes to make use of it.
  • The puppets for Waffle the Cow-Monkey, DJ 1, DJ 2, DJ 3, and Pancake the Water Buffalo made appearances in Puppet Up!
  • Bozark the Elephant appeared in the movie Old Dogs. He alongside Scales the Dragon from the pilot to 'Little Mermaid's Island' and Beak and YesNo from the proposed show 'Muppetmobile' were seen as part of Jimmy Lunchbox's show.
  • The puppet for Waffle the Cow-Monkey appeared in No, You Shut Up! and The Happytime Murders.
